Wathiq is the owner and manager of The Confident Barbershop opening in the Fall of 2020. He is a Master Level Barber with international experience. Wathiq is multilingual and originally from Baghdad, Iraq where he started his training and career as a Barber during the late 90’s. Wathiq worked as a Barber while he attended Institute of Administration Al-Rusafa – where he obtained his business degree and relocated to Manama, Bahrain.

Wathiq then moved from Bahrain to Richmond, Virginia in 2016 and obtained his Barber license. Here he continues his practice as a Barber, and brings more than 20 years of international training and experience to The Confident Barbershop team. Clients have always enjoyed getting their cuts and style from Wathiq, and won’t hesitate to tell you that. He looks forward to assisting you achieve your best look and style.

As former President Ronald Reagan once quoted, “You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman, You can go to live in Germany, Turkey, or Japan, but you cannot become German, Turk, or Japanese; but anyone, from any corner of the earth, can come to live in America and become an American”.

As an immigrant from Iraq and having lived in many countries before arriving in America, this quote speaks to Wathiq’s heart and has truly been his experience with coming to America.
